OnePlus TV update adds Spotify, MX Player, Voot and other content integrations

OnePlus has steadily evolved from a maker of flagship killers to a premium smartphone brand. The company recently took the top spot in the premium smartphone segment in India, surpassing Korean rival Samsung. The success of its smartphone lineup has given OnePlus the opportunity to add more products to its portfolio. Late last year, alongside the launch of the OnePlus 7T (review), the company also unveiled its first Android-powered QLED 4K TV. During our review, we found the OnePlus TV to be a great premium offering in the Android TV space. And the TV has since improved even further thanks to constant feature updates from OnePlus.

Soon after the launch of the TV, OnePlus rolled out an update with new lighting effects for the soundbar. Then, late last year in December, OnePlus rolled out another update bringing Netflix support to the TV, along with a new remote. Now, OnePlus is rolling out another update for the TV that brings even more new features. As per a recent press release from the company, the latest update includes support for popular music and video streaming apps like Spotify, JioSaavn, Voot, ShemarooMe, alt Balaji and MX Player. These music and content streaming apps will come preinstalled for new users, while the OTA update will enable these features for previous owners. Additionally, the update also enables Bluetooth connectivity with earphone, allowing users to connect their OnePlus TV with their favorite pair of Bluetooth headphones.

In a statement regarding the update, OnePlus India’s General Manager, Vikas Agarwal, was quoted saying, “We at OnePlus strive to take the home environment to the next level of intelligent connectivity. The new update brings a lot of viewing and listening content to the OnePlus TV. Our approach has always been a community-first approach and we are happy to bring premium content partners on to the OnePlus TV.”

  • OnePlus smartphone can share Hotspot to OnePlus TV
  • OnePlus Connect supports up to five devices simultaneously
• PQ optimization:
  • Streamlined PQ mode options
  • Added color gamut conversion
  • Turn off MEMC in Dolby mode
• Local Player:
  • Support both embedded and external subtitle while playing local videos
• System:
  • Use Prime Video button on the remote to power on/off the TV
