NVIDIA SHIELD TV Gets SHIELD Experience 6.2 Update with HDR Support in VUDU, New Google Assistant Integrations and More

Last month, NVIDIA started rolling out a new update to the SHIELD TV which brought many useful features like new Google Assistant Actions, IR remote controls, a new version of YouTube TV applications and much more. Now NVIDIA has announced yet another update for the NVIDIA SHIELD TV in the form of SHIELD Experience 6.2. The update is rolling out now and while it's not bringing Android Oreo or any major UI changes, it does, however, bring in a number of exciting features and improvements.

Speaking of the new features, the new update adds support for HDR content played through VUDU. It also brings in Google Assistant integration with Plex, Logitech Circle Camera, Ecobee thermostat and LG SmartThinQ appliances, as well as the ability to cast music from Amazon Music. There is also support added in for 4K UHD content in Google Play Movies & TV application.

For movie buffs, the new update also brings along Disney's Movies Anywhere application, enabling you to access all your favorites movies purchased through services like iTunes, Amazon Video, Google Play and VUDU in a single accessible library on your SHIELD TV.

As for gamers, PC versions of Destiny 2 and FIFA 18 are now available for streaming through NVIDIA's GameStream service. Moreover, you can now also play the SHIELD TV exclusive version of the classic third-person shooter Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

Apart from above mentioned changes, SHIELD Experience 6.2 also includes the latest security patches from the month of November (dated November, 5, 2017 in case you're wondering) and fixes many annoying bugs and stability issues that many users have been complaining of.

The SHIELD Experience 6.2 has already started rolling out globally and if you're a proud owner of an NVIDIA SHEILD TV, you can look forward to receiving this new update on your device in the coming days.
