The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge managed to impress a lot of people, thanks to their all-around performance as well as their design. The dual edge won a lot of fans over for its premium feeling and the distinguishing design it granted the device over the competition.
Moving on from the S7 and the S7 Edge, rumors and leaks have started flowing in for the successor to the Note lineup, the Samsung Galaxy Note 6. Or the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, if the rumors are to be believed.
According to a report originating from ETNews, Samsung is likely to skip the numbering over on the next Note device. The name “Samsung Galaxy Note 6” will make way for “Samsung Galaxy Note 7”. This number skip comes as Samsung wants to bring the numbering at par with the corresponding years S-lineup release, the Galaxy S7 in this case. A numbering difference apparently denotes a lowering of internal features to the non-tech savvy crowd, and we kind of understand the sentiment. If the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 becomes the Galaxy Note 7, it will also be at par with the Apple iPhone 7 and its siblings in its naming. Although this is not mentioned as the reason, there’s a good chance that this is the true motive behind the number skip as the Galaxy Note lineup is released right around when the iPhone is released.
But that is not the only recent happening on the Note 6/7 front. New leaks have surfaced which give us a very good look at what the Galaxy Note 6 (/7) will be, in terms of design.
This leaked render comes to us courtesy of leaker @OnLeaks in collaboration with uSwitch. Along with the images, we are also treated with a video showing the rendered device. These renders are based off leaked blueprints of the Note 6/7, and are widely believed to be accurate representation of the device.
The Note 6/7 renders show a device that is very close to the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, but with the more-squared curves the Note line is known for. The default Note 6/7 will be sporting a dual curved edge design for both the front and the back. This could imply that the Galaxy S7 Edge Plus may not come to exist, as the last device in the Note lineup with a curved edge display was the first Galaxy Note Edge with its one-side curve.
We also see the Stylus housing on the bottom in the renders, as well as the USB Type C port. The front of the device is also seen sporting a few extra sensors, which could be indicative of the rumored Iris-scanning technology that Samsung has been working on for a while.
We are still in the early stages with regards the Galaxy Note 6, as the device is still rumored to be two months away. As we get closer, more information will flow and things will get clearer. For now, we have enough material to sate our appetite.
