OnePlus 3 Gets Unofficial CyanogenMod 13 & Recovery, Before Getting to Your Doorstep

OnePlus has called users and developers to tinker with the OnePlus 3, and if you aren’t convinced that the device is off to a good start, this latest bit of news will do the trick:

The OnePlus 3 already has unofficial CyanogenMod as well as a recovery, courtesy of recognized developer Grarak. To get it on your device (once it gets to your doorstep, of course), you just have to unlock the bootloader, flash the recovery, and then flash the ROM (and gapps) — easy, quick, no unlock codes for the bootloader and no voided warranties making you think twice.

There are a few known issues with the ROM as of right now, including no F2FS, worse battery life than Oxygen OS, some camera issues and unoptimized performance (given that the Snapdragon 820 is a rather recent platform).

Grarak has thanked OnePlus for the phone and the help he received from their engineers. It’s safe to say we can expect OnePlus to remain dev-friendly and increase its efforts to foster development around the device. We know OnePlus had also donated previous devices to other prominent developers to promote the creation of awesome ROMs and kernels, and we hope that the trend continues so that we see more awesome stuff coming out of OnePlus devices.

Do you think the OnePlus 3 will have a solid developer community behind it? Sound off below!
