June Security Update Arrives For Nexus Devices; OTA and Factory Images in Tow

One of the reasons to purchase a Nexus device is the quick update promise. With frequent updates that add in critical patches, you are sure to own a device that belongs to the uppermost brackets in Android with regards to safety from recent vulnerabilities.

So if you own a supported Nexus device and are itching to flash something new, the June security update with Android version 6.0.1 Marshmallow has rolled out. This update bumps up the build number of the Pixel C to MXC89H, the Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5X to MTC19V and the rest of the supported Nexus devices to MOB30M. You get the option of flashing via either the factory images or the OTA update zips.

If you are interested, the security bulletin for the month of June can be found here.

A few more points with regards the update: the update for the Nexu 6P has the same bootloader and radio as previous versions. Also, the Nexus 10 is no longer being granted the privilege of security updates, as it falls outside of Google’s support window as of last month.
